Our Lignia PAR Battens are the perfect material for any fencing or cladding project.

Price displayed is per batten.

  • Lignia battens are a sustainable timber, sourced from FSC managed plantations
  • These battens are durable, (Class 1 Durability) with strong resistance against decay fungi and improved resistance against termite attack
  • As with other Timbers, when exposed uncoated outdoors to the weather, Lignia will silver over time.
  • Lignia is a small movement timber like teak or Western Red Cedar. This means they are well equipped for use externally because they do not fluctuate as much when exposed to changes in humidity and moisture. Less swelling and less shrinkage.
  • Perfect for use in joinery, cladding, decking or outdoor furniture.
  • Made to be free of knots and other blemishes like resin streaks.
  • Lignia is manufactured using a patent pending resin modification process. During manufacture, wood is fully impregnated with resin. The wood is then dried, and the resin cured through heating under high temperature and pressure to polymerise the resin and ‘lock it’ into the wood altering its properties throughout the piece.
  • Sold unfinished and un-sanded. Some images may show various finishes that can be achieved.

It is highly recommended that both ends of LIGNIA wood pieces be end sealed with either paint or wax to prevent moisture ingress, especially when inserted into the ground. LIGNIA has Class 1 durability and is a small movement timber but end sealing is recommended as with all modified timbers.

Average density is 650 kg/m3: avoid splitting of the wood, for thicker pieces pre-drilling is recommended. Fixings should be at least 20mm from the ends and 15mm from edges of boards respectively to avoid splitting.

Size:

3m x 95mm x 22mm

4m x 95mm x 22mm

Texture: Smooth

To keep your wood looking as good as the day you bought it, we would highly recommend taking these steps.

What To Do When Your Timber Arrives

  • This timber has been air dried, therefore we recommend that prior to use it is acclimatised to its new environment to help prevent problems such as movement, warping, swelling or shrinking.
  • Brush off any excess residue and sand down any rough patches or areas.
  • Decide on your desired finish! We believe that our timber is beautiful in a range of finishes and for preservation we would recommend applying either a wax or oil - Click to shop our range of Briwax and Osmo Oil.
